Holistic health and wellness is a form of healing that considers the "whole" person - body, mind, spirit, and emotions - in the quest for optimal health and wellness. Holistic health care is an integrated approach to health care that treats the whole person, not simply symptoms and disease. Mind and body are integrated and inseparable.
One of the best ways to live holistically is to eat holistically! Although everyone's food plan is different and individual, this means slowly transitioning away from eating foods that are processed, full of grease, high fat, or high sugar foods. These types of foods typically contain fewer nutrients than our body needs and more calories than we need as well. Instead, eating more vegetables for both their antioxidant and protein qualities is a much better dietary choice. Unprocessed grains, raw or sprouted nuts and fruits can be other wonderful eating choices. Always eating organic whenever possible.
Another aspect to living holistically is to incorporate movement into your daily life. Although it can mean going to the gym or being on a regimented exercise routine, it does not have to. Walking, biking, bowling, dancing are all forms of movement that nurture the body and soul.
Living a holistic lifestyle would not be complete without adequate stress management and good sleeping habits.. Each person’s stress management relief technique is as unique as they are. Some people find that practicing Yoga or Pilates to be great stress busters. While other people prefer curling up with a good book, lounging on a beach, meditating, receiving a massage, or taking a long soak in a hot tub. Whatever your need is, your holistic health coach will guide you to embrace it into your holistic wellness plan.
The last aspect to living a holistic lifestyle is to keep your soul as happy and healthy as can be! Living a holistic lifestyle means that you are committed to living a meaningful life to the best of your abilities and living your life to make sure that your body, mind and soul are happy and healthy.
Our Hypnotherapist is Board Certified Hypnotherapist from the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), the largest, most respected and active hypnosis organization in the world. She offers mindfulness (awake) hypnosis to her clients to overcome symptoms of anxiety and stress, fear and phobias, pain control, compulsiveness, insomnia, hot flashes, and/or to implement behavior modifications for addictions such as smoking, overeating, etc.
After a 30-40 minute assessment session, together it is decided what the client wishes to be hypnotized for in order to help them reach their desired go or health objectives. The client is always in control and can never be hypnotized to do anything she doesn't want to do. The process of being put into a trance (awake) is totally relaxing and stress free. This allows the subconscious mind to be influenced and to create new actions and feelings. When done, the client usually feels at peace and energized. The entire process takes about an hour and a half. Sometimes followup sessions will be recommended.
As defined by Mayo Clinic, "Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. Hypnosis is usually done with the help of a therapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you're under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions. Hypnosis can be used to help you gain control over undesired behaviors or to help you cope better with anxiety or pain. It's important to know that although you're more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don't lose control over your behavior."
The International Center of Reiki Training says that Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Massage Therapy can benefit your overall health by keeping the body and mind functioning optimally. Massage helps to relieve chronic tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical stress, promote faster healing in injured muscle tissue, improves posture, and reduce blood pressure. You may also notice improved sleep, concentration, reduced anxiety and create an overall sense of well being.
Massage is especially beneficial for care givers, people with physical jobs, desk workers, and those who travel frequently. It is often used to enhance other types of health care: physical/occupational therapy, chiropractic visits and psychotherapy.
In addition to a quick intake form, a discussion with your massage therapist before your appointment can determine which type of massage will benefit you.
HOMEOPATHY WAS DEVELOPED 200 YEARS AGO BY SAMUEL HAHNEMANN (1755-1843), a German doctor, who became disillusioned with the barbaric treatments of his time (bloodletting, leeches, mercury application, creating an artificial wound etc.)
The word “homeopathy” comes from Greek words: homeos – similar, pathos – suffering. The basis of Homeopathy is the principle “like cures like” or Law of Similars. That means a substance that causes symptoms of a disease in a healthy person can cure a sick person suffering from similar symptoms. Homeopathy helps the body to balance itself by stimulating the body’s own natural ability to heal itself.
Homeopathic remedies are mostly made from plants and minerals. Unlike herbal extracts or supplements, which contain many molecules of the original substance, homeopathic remedies are diluted so many times during the preparation, that they become very safe, non-toxic and have no side effects when used. Homeopathic remedies work on energetic level; it is a gentle message to the body on what to do. Homeopathic remedies do not interact with conventional medicines and are so safe, that can even be used for infants and pregnant women.
According to the World Health Organization, homeopathy is the second most used form of medicine in the world today. It is part of the conventional healthcare system in England, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, and most of South America.
Sound and vibration can be used to re-tune us to health and one of the most powerful modalities for this is the use of Himalayan singing bowls. When there is a deep relaxation through soothing, resonant sound, the body is affected on a cellular level, opening up the flow of energy to move us back toward vibrational alignment with health. Sound can help us shift our energy frequency from lower to higher, removing the lower frequencies of emotions such as fear, anger, and resentment. The sound of the bowls is calming, and they are frequently used as a meditation aid as the sound induces a sense of peacefulness.
Quantum physics has proven that everything has vibration, whether it’s a table, a chair, a person, a planet, or a cosmos. And wherever there is a sound, there is a vibration. When we use sound coupled with intention, which is the most important aspect of healing, we can direct sound vibration to raise the body’s vibrational frequency.
Negative energy can make us physically ill or mentally depressed. Each bowl emits a soothing vibration that radiates out negative energy, which restricts your ability to reach your full physical, spiritual, and mental health….
Healing through sound and vibration has been known to reduce stress, improve concentration, reduce blood pressure, stimulate life force flow in the body, improve immunity, harmonize the chakras with the energy field, heighten intuition and perception, synchronize the brain hemispheres, remove mental and emotional negativity, and enhance creativity.
